Founded in 1957, the Danube Folk Ensemble is one of the most popular professional groups in Hungary. The members of the ensemble are both excellent dancers and musicians. It consists of 30 dancers and a 7-member folk orchestra playing authentic music. The aim of the ensemble is to perform genuine dances with dynamism and style, and to create innovative dance-theater pieces on these principles. In addition to establishing a distinctive style through the vision of their artistic director, János Mucsi, and his choreographer, Zsolt Juhász, the ensemble regularly works together with noted guest choreographers. Their work enhance the rich repertoire of the Danube Folk Ensemble.

The Danube Folk Ensemble`s repertoire includes some gems of Hungarian folk dance tradition, while the Hungarian folk music is faithfully interpreted by its musicians. Varied and broad, the repertoire provides for several full concerts which are unique.

The ensemble gives over one hundred performances each year, including weekly shows at the Duna Palota and folklore and dance-theater performances both in the theaters of Budapest and all over the country. Besides presenting its own repertoire, the ensemble has participated in various theater productions such as János Vitéz - a musical tale, King Stephen, Attila - rock operas and the opera Dózsa György. The Duna Folk Ensemble is consistently included in the events of the Ministry of the Interior and at celebrations of National Holidays.

These performances take place at the Parliament building or the Buda Castle, and are usually shown live on national television.

The performance starts at 8.00 PM.

After the concert, from 10.00 PM we offer you a possibility to take delight in the view of Budapest by night from the river Danube on the board of our pleasure-boat.

The atmosphere of the concert can be continued on the river Danube. This will give you the best view of Budapest by night accompanied by candlelight and an excellent warm and cold buffet supper-on-board (with drinks). The pleasure boat leaves for the one-hour cruise from a pier which is only a five-minute walk from the concert hall. Following the concert a hostess will accompany our guests to the pier.

To book tickets for the ship cruise separately from the concert, please visit our ’Dinner and Cruise’ program here!
